The Origination of the Chinese Zodiac


dragon The Chinese Zodiac consists of a twelve year cycle, each year of which is named after a different animal that imparts distinct of its year.

Since in ancient China, people tried to find a good way of keeping track of the years, so they created the Chinese Zodiac system.

They chose twelve animals as the Twelve Signs --- the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig --- to represent the circle of the years.

Many Chinese people believe that the year of a person's birth is the primary factor in determining that person's personality traits, physical and mental attributes and degree of success and happiness throughout his/her life. Many people even believe that the forture of their marriage lifes is determined by the Chinese Zodiac --- they would choose or refuse a person as his/her wife/husband according to the person's year of birth ......
